Oakland Primary Health Services Relocating to Larger Facility Inside Pontiac’s Historic Lighthouse Building – June 22nd Grand Opening Planned
Expanded Healthcare Staff and Newly Constructed Medical & Dental Offices Aimed at Assisting Low Income and Under-Insured Population
Pontiac, MI. The expanded medical and dental offerings available through Oakland Primary Health Services, (OPHS) are being called the most significant improvement in healthcare opportunities for uninsured and underinsured families in Oakland County in many years. OPHS was founded in 2001, and became federally funded in 2002. CEO Steven Grant took on the demanding job of re-branding the agency in February of 2016, and he has initiated numerous improvements that have helped thousands of families navigate their way through the tedious process of obtaining insurance coverage under the Affordable Healthcare Act, (Obamacare). Mr. Grant credits OPHS Outreach coordinator Coco Moulder with helping hundreds of low-income men, women and children obtain insurance coverage. “My team has done an incredible job working at a facility that was too small, outdated and at a location that was inconvenient for many of our patients. The new OPHS facilities are transportation friendly. We’re on the bus line, and parking is free for those who drive”
The June 14th move from the current location at 46 Saginaw Street in downtown Pontiac to the Historic Lighthouse facility at 46156 Woodward Avenue near the Pontiac business loop provides nearly double the space with 14,700 sq. ft. Construction of the 8 new medical suites and 6 dental suites, and executive offices, is nearly complete. The medical and dental clinics will each will have its own entrance, and the entire OPHS clinic is separate from the other offices and services at Lighthouse. “Our staff is very enthusiastic and looking forward to the move. This is going to be great for the citizens of Oakland County and beyond”, says Mr. Grant.
The expanded space will house various medical specialties including Primary Care, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Pediatrics Behavior Health, Substance Abuse Counseling, and more. New and existing patients can plan their appointments at the new location beginning on June 14h. Those without health insurance can make an appointment with the outreach coordinator to get enrolled in a plan. A total of 32 staffers, excluding the dentists will make the move to Lighthouse. Although the agency’s name says Oakland, services are open to any resident in the state of Michigan.
