Derek Lanier, MD, MPH is a native of Detroit and graduate of Cass Technical High School.    He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan and went on to graduate from the U of M School of Public Health and the School of Medicine as well. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit. His interests include population health and the management of health care disparities. Prior to joining OPHS in 2008 Dr. Lanier was a Medical Director in Lansing. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer.






Preston Thomas, MD is a graduate of Pontiac Northern High School. He decided to return to his native town after completing his undergraduate degree at Michigan State University and his medical degree at Wayne State University. Dr. Thomas has been practicing preventative and comprehensive medicine since 2003. Prior to joining to OPHS in 2002, he worked at Oakwood Hospital in Southeast Michigan.






Michelle Caffey, RN, MSN, Family Nurse Practitioner graduated from Pontiac Northern High School, Michelle Caffey returned to her native town of Pontiac, Michigan after completing her undergraduate nursing degree at the University of Michigan. Ms. Caffey completed her Master’s Degree of Nursing at Wayne State University and received a post-graduate certificate as a family nurse practitioner from The University of Michigan. Ms. Caffey currently specializes in infectious diseases. She joined OPHS in 2002 and serves as a Family Nurse Practitioner.






Maria Teresa Jaramillo, LLP completed her education in her native Colombia, obtaining one degree in Psychology and another in Clinical Psychology. After graduation she worked in Bogota for some time and in 1990 migrated to the United States. Since then Maria has worked in Community Mental Health in Southwest Detroit and Pontiac. She joined OPHS in early 2009 and serves as Behavioral Health Clinician.
